In July 2024, the import volume of U.S. seafood into South Korea increased by 21% compared to the same period last year, 

totaling 3,175 tons. Despite this growth, the cumulative import volume for the year up to July reached 21,308 tons, 

representing a 9% decrease from last year’s 223,443 tons. U.S. seafood now accounts for 4% of the total 511,277 tons of 

seafood imported into South Korea.

Among the key species imported from the U.S., FROZEN SALMON saw a notable increase, with 2,903 tons imported, 

compared to 0 tons last year. FROZEN ATKA MACKEREL imports also surged by 126% to 2,455 tons, up from 1,084 tons 

in the previous year. Additionally, FROZEN RAY imports increased by 23% to 2,215 tons, compared to 1,796 tons last year.

However, FROZEN YELLOWFIN SOLE imports dropped by 47% to 2,353 tons, down from 4,471 tons last year, 

while FROZEN COD MILT imports decreased by 32% to 1,299 tons, compared to 1,922 tons in 2023.

The total import value of U.S. seafood in July reached USD 9.32 million, a 1% increase from USD 9.22 million 

in the same period last year. On the other hand, the cumulative import value for the year decreased by 12%, 

totaling USD 67.55 million, down from USD 76.34 million last year. The average import price was USD 3.17/kg.
